Your setup would struggle with both games on the max settings but on the " high " settings both games would peform well. Both Warhead and Crysis 1 use CryENGINE 2 and offer basically the same Graphics, nearly unnoticable. I own both games, and both are amazing, but in yuour case I would buy Crysis 1 for the sheer sake of the campaign, you would understand all the other crysis games after 1.

What he said.

And FWIW I've played both games on a rig with a Q6600 CPU, 4gig of RAM, and a DX10 card (4850) and both ran rather well under High settings. I would expect your rig to handle both games a little better, though to be honest, Crysis still struggles on my rig now (system specs), especially near the end where there's tons of action and you're playing in DX10 mode.Crysis Warhead isn't as demanding as Crysis though it will tax your system at "Enthusiast" settings.

So to summarize - With Crysis Warhead I can play at Enthusiast settings but will experience some choppiness, whereas Crysis becomes nearly unplayable for me in areas with lots of action at the "Very High" settings.

Note that Enthusiast is the highest setting for Warhead while Very High is the highest setting for Crysis.

+2 on what Zepher said... Crysis is the main Game and Warhead is like the follow up game... if you like playing the Campaigns first (who doesn't :D)... you would understand where Warhead is coming from if you play Crysis first.

Now, being said that... you don't need to buy one to enjoy the other... they were equally fun.

I think personally Warhead was shorter but more action packed and it was also easier on the system and better to look at as well because they had time to optimize the engine. But yeah if I were you I would get both and complete the experience!

And if you are a bit of a graphics whore like me and if you have a decent setup you can look around for tweaks you can perform on the game engine's parameters to make the game look even better with maybe a slight performance cost or none at all. Its quite nice.

The first Crysis has higher resolution textures, but Warhead is better optimized performance wise.

Warhead's aiming system is better than the original's, but I prefer the first one's story line.

Storyline in Crysis 2 is a little iffy... not as good as the first 2 games IMO.
