CS 1.6 or SC Source?

I want to get into cs ( yes i know its a very old game but it looks so fun) problem is i dont know which one to go for. Which has better gameplay, mechanics etc and is the most competitive

i would say source or you might want to wait until counter strike global offensive comes out the are a fair few differences between 1.6 and source though weapon recoil for one is not as sever in source i would also say 1.6 is the harder game to pick up and play and more skillful game. Also the grenades act different in 1.6 to source there also larger in 1.6 and easier to see and if you are planing to get cs:go then it would be better to get source as its basically a revamped version of source hope that helps

CS Source but if your pc is not so great then go with CS 1.6 but I would recommend Source over 1.6

Wait for the new Counter Strike, because you are just going to get beasted on, if you buy CSS or CS 1.6.

I prefer Source over 1.6 myself. The engine in 1.6 for me is just not realistic enough. I haven't played Source in quite a while though.
