Solved current update KB2871997 keeps 'reinstalling'

Had this issue with some other updates in the past but not sure how it was fixed. Update KB2871997 keeps trying to re-install even after it appears in recent updates...have run MS Fixit for updates by no change.

Is there a way to prevent this update from trying to re-install all day long ?

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data
If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Ok Thanks...here's the files as I said in original post there are no error codes...only update KB2871997 installs but almost immediately Win Update says it's ready to install again ?

Have completed the following:
System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) installed without issues ( saw no option to 'run' SURT ) after install

SFC Scan - no issues

Windows Update Error Codes - no codes...just repeated attempts to install KB2871997 even after notice of successful install

CheckSUR is depressing...

Summary:
Seconds executed: 346
 Found 5723 errors
  CSI Missing Deployment Key Total count: 5518
  CSI C Mark Deployment Missing Total count: 204
  CSI Missing Winning Component Key Total count: 1

With that number of Keys missing, I suspect more widespread corruption. and wouldn't even want to consider a manual repair.

OK...going back and forth on repair install vs. clean install...have read Brinks tutorial a couple of times but am not clear on the following:

I have a 2009 original retail windows installation disk...however...I don't know if this is pre or post SP1...?

There is no mention on the original install dvd of SP1

If this is a pre SP1 installation disk...what procedure should I use in Brinks tutorial ? Do I have to mess with the slip stream versions...or do I just reinstall and then download/upgrade the SP1 SP from Microsoft ?

Your Win7 disc most likely is without SP1. A number of Web pages found by Google Search show 2011 as when SP1 became available. Slower 'net connections would prompt me to get the .iso file, maybe on a different computer, then use a burning program burn a DVD-R or DVD+R from that, it's a 1.9GB file. Don't just copy the file to the disc, won't work.
Download Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB976932) from Official Microsoft Download Center
As for the slipstream, you'd have to get that file anyway.
