Cursor goes crazy, then computer slows down and freezes

Hi,

Since my screen turns black (instead of blue), I don't know if this is the correct forum to post in. The problem:

The mouse cursor (normally a black outlined white arrow) will, with no warning, turn weird-looking - and looks fuzzy or blurry, larger than normal, with different colors, it can go from pointy to round, sometimes disappears for awhile. After that, I have only a couple of minutes to shut down open programs before the computer slows down and freezes to the point where I can't click anything.

Sometimes, I'll have left the computer running, go off to do an errand, and come back to see the two monitors have turned black. Ctrl Alt Del does nothing. The only way to shut down is to push and hold the start button until the computer goes off.

Other times when the cursor goes crazy, I'm able to click Start and select restart, but the computer will not restart. It will start powering off, then turn black. I have to manually shut it off (push the start button in).

Upon restarting, the computer will start up normally (after selecting the option to start normally) and will run anywhere from a day to several days until the cursor goes crazy again.

I've run memtest 86+ and it reported no errors after 12 passes.

I saw a thread in another forum that suggested changing the power management of the mouse may help with mouse problems, so I have deselected "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" under the Device Manager > Mice and other pointing devices. The mouse is a Microsoft USB Wheel Mouse Optical.

I have no idea if the mouse is to blame, or if the computer is having other problems.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti display adapter is up-to-date, according to Windows.

In Device Manager for the mouse, the General tab says "This device is working properly"; and when checking for updates, Windows says driver software is up-to-date.

I read posting instructions and got stuck on #1 - configuring dump files. Which dump file should I configure?

I went on to #2 and ran SF_Diagnostic_Tool.exe. I couldn't see the SF_25-12-2013 folder on my desktop, but found it here: D:\Users\User\Desktop - Attached is the zip file.

Hoping someone can help detect what is wrong.
Thanks

Description:
The device, \Device\Harddisk1\DR1, has a bad block.
The HDD is Western Digital WD Green WD10EARX 1TB. So test it using Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows.

Also, some failure from AVG's part is also noticed. And AVG Disk Driver (c:\windows\system32\drivers\avgdiska.sys) may fairly contribute to the issue. Better you uninstall AVG using Revo Uninstaller freeware.

Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.

Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one; for a safety need.

Let us know the results.

OK, try it: AVG | Download tools and utilities
AVG Remover eliminates all the parts of your AVG installation from your computer, including registry items, installation files, user files, etc.
It will be a better option than Revo or AppRemover.

I removed AVG free using several of the uninstallers and still found traces on the computer. Some AVG dll files are still in Chrome's plugins folder. Anyway, so I installed Microsoft Security Essentials, and already had been using Malwarebytes free. I ran both programs (full scans) and it found nothing.

I ran the Western Data LifeGuard Diagnostics -DLGDIAG for Windows and did a full scan of Drive #1: WDC WD10EARX-00N0YB0 (IDE), 1000 GB. The test of Physical Drive 1 completed successfully in 3 hours 9 minutes. Current sector 1953525167 of 1953525167. I was unable to get a txt file of the results because the screen said it couldn't reach a browser page, even though Firefox (default browser) was open. I took a screenshot and wanted to save it to the D drive, but saw that the drive was unavailable. When I opened Windows Explorer, the D drive looked like it wasn't connected. That was scary! After closing DLGDIAG, the drive became available.

I'm curious about my C and D drives. Are they just one drive that is partitioned? If C were to fail, would D also fail? And visa versa? The C drive has 465 GB total space; the D drive is also 465 GB. But the DLGDIAG showed that drive 1 has 1,000 GB, which I'm assuming is both C and D.

As to creating the dump files, I don't know which one to choose: complete, kernel or small. RAM is more than 2 GB.

Thanks

I finally was able to capture a picture of the crazy cursor. Posting this in case it will help someone who is having the same problem. At first, the cursor was a hand. Then it turned into the thick arrow. Then it was an arrow and a halo.
