cursor keeps running backwards............

Hi,
Thought I'd give this forum a ago as I don't seem to be getting anywhere with this problem.
Acer aspire i3 250gb HD 4GB DDR OS 7.

The laptop was bought a few months ago second hand but from a reputable dealer and worked fine.
There's very little in the way of apps on the laptop and there's plenty of space on the hard drive. Its a relatively clean laptop.

Recently though it has developed a serious cursor problem. I've tried adjusting the mouse pointer options method, removed the battery and power supply and took out and replaced the ram and pressed the on button for 15 seconds to 'reset the hardware', still no luck.

I've performed a system restore and updated the touch pad synaptics driver and still no luck.
I've also noticed the problem occurs in safe mode as well which doesn't sound to good to me.

Not sure where to go or how to go about sorting this problem.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum.

By "cursor keeps running backwards" you mean the arrow of the touch pad?

Normally the touch pads has a hardware switch on top. Did you try to turn it off?

This is often caused by vibration of the touch pad, often when you are typing on the keyboard. Try a more secure base under the laptop & make sure it is firm & not able to rock around. If this doesn't help you could use an external keyboard & turn off the touch pad.

If the dealer is really all that 'Reputable' then you should take it back to them for analysis and repair.

OH, one thing that would make the cursor seem to run backward is a stuck key on the keyboard, like the Left Arrow Key. I'd lightly smack those keys around a bit to see if that would solve the problem. If not, a new keyboard might be the best fix. That's usually not a very expensive repair.
