Solved Custom Computer at 70C While Gaming (Is it a bad thing?)

Have a peek at this one. I have it on my machine. It has a lot of clearance plus it can be installed in different directions, so it could be away from the memory if need be.

I've had it for two months, 1st in a HP and now the new 'puter.
It has been great since day one, quiet and most importantly keeps things cool.

Did you use the included thermal compound?

Yes, when I installed it in the HP. There was no problem with it.

On the new one, I used Arctic Silver 5, it is better, plus I already had it from doing work on other 'puters.

Okay. In another turn of events, I noticed that Speccy is saying each core is running at 4.5ghz. Core Temp confirms this. This might be the problem, since I haven't purposely OCed my system. Any ideas on what might be causing this?

And finally in a final turn of events for the next couple of weeks....I have to send my mobo in to get it fixed. While updating the BIOS I did it wrong and pretty much soft-bricked it. So we will see what happens. Does anyone else have good suggestions for a new fan/heat-sink, I like the one COMPUTIAC has suggested (COOLER MASTER GeminII S524); but I would like some more ideas before I settle for one.

I don't know if it's possible to rearrange your wiring to un-clump it. It can allow more airflow.

Yes I can rearrange my cables. I was the one who tired then together in the first place. Once I get my motherboard back I will make it all nice and shiny.

Just remember Semicolon when you get your motherboard back do every thing slowly, neat, clean and tidy. You will be okay.

Air coolers or Liquid ?, if your concerned about RAM clearance something like (eg -Corsair Hydro Liquid CPU Coolers) will not cause a RAM clearance problem and prices are not to bad

Their are many good air coolers and they are big and various prices but the first one that comes to my mind is below.

Noctua NH-D14 CPU Cooler - Newegg.com

I would recommend looking into self contained water cool. They work great and don't take up all the room on the motherboard. They also don't put a lot of weight hanging off the motherboard. Also because of their size they allow better air flow through the case.
Their are a lot of pluses and I don't know of any negatives.

As awesome as that cooler looks, I am closer to the $30-$40 range.
