Point 2. NO, the forum resize makes it a jpg again, losing transparency. Make your big one a multiple of the finished size, ex: 1300x300, then reduce 50%.

Since I'm a fairly new member here, I hadn't worried very much about a sig, and hadn't even given a lot of thought to a decent avatar. But yesterday I finally upgraded my ancient copy of Photo-Shop 6 to the
full version of Photo-Shop CS2 (Photo-Shop 9).
As it had been a while since I'd even used PS, and since my eightforums sig was pretty crappy, I decided to
kill two birds with one stone and make myself a new one while familiarising myself with the 'new' Photo-Shop
at the same time.
I was so pleased with the result I decided to use the same basic template and do a sevenforums one. I'm
no
maven when it comes to graphic arts, and pretty-well a novice at Photo-Shop, but then, one must start
somewhere, eh?
Anyway, hope you like them, or at least that you don't laugh too hard at them.

Wenda.
That turned out quite well

A matching sig for BlackSparrow ....

Very nice avatar and signature Archie

Maybe a different text?
Much better looking than the first one

Ah un-finished project.

Any comments welcome?

Benjy pal ... whilst your latest rendition looks pretty cool, is it ok if I could give you a few pointers

1. Try not to stretch your bitmaps (resize them proportionately)
2. Work at a much larger size and resolution (create a copy of the actual size and show this aswell)
3. Use perspective (follow the shape that the word or design is sitting on when using a drop shadow or reflection)
4. Save your designs as a png if you want to retain the transparency ;)

No bother don't mind at all.

Your point 1: I always use Alt + resize now size, since archie told me :)
Your point 2: So make them in a big size and just allow the forum to shrink it?
Your point 3: Photoshop doesn't allow within the 3D to adjust the reflection :( only the opacity.

Nope pal don't let the forum resize the image it will turn it into a gif file and it will loose it's transparency, rather create your design from the start allot bigger eg. 1300x300 then when your finished (save it in photoshop at this size in a psd format this way you will keep all the layers intact if you need to edit it further) then make a copy and save it at the actual size (use png if you want transparency otherwise jpg) eg. if you work in 1300x300 this is proportionately 650x150 (image 1)

In Photoshop you can use the "transform" "perspective" option (image 2) to get the desired effect, you might have to create another copy layer and merge some of the layers down depending on what effects you used.
But you don't need to use perspective all the time it's mostly used when the object that the text etc is sitting on has perspective (image 3) ... hope this helps a bit ;)

Thanks for that Nick. The perspective I didn't know about will come in handy. Save me using the Reflection option in 3D as your limited to what you can do.
