Windows 8.1 is supposed to address users' concerns re Windows 8.

Which, in many cases, it does not.

Playing with fonts now, but most of my d/l'ed fonts are still in my Win 8 image. I need to go get them out so meanwhile have been playing with some I'd already created.

It's pretty minimalistic, but I'm loving the outcome!

Here's a quickie I threw together for EightForums, celebrating (???) Windows 8.1

Hope you like... Couldn't find an 'orb' for 8.1, so I made my own. And cutting the
betta-fish out was a PITA to get 'right'.

Should be back 'into it' soon.

Nice one, Wenda. But you need to adjust the shadow mode opacity when you are applying bevel and emboss. It is not looking good there with deep dark shadow mode.


And, dont apply bevel and emboss to a text's reflection .... if the bevel to reflection is really needed there, first apply the reflection only to a single layer so that the layer is free from layer styles, then apply the transparency mask there.

To a rendered reflected text (like the SF logo) bevel does not do a better look.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone, it is appreciated, as always.

Arc, the sig was only a 'quickie' and some of it was dragged from other projects without modding the effects. But I've taken your suggestions on-board, and the result (before & after) is shown below.

I do need to do something with the EF logo, this one's near on impossible to see on a light b'ground...I've used the very minimum effects to get it visible, but no more.

I haven't modded the 'orb' yet, as it is a separate PSD file. I'll play with it later, have guests at present, and they have no interest in computers.

The effects on the logo is making it look bad.

BTW, I havent had any sig from the new designers. Is not it an injustice on me?

I thought I had both the logos in black, but can't seem to find them, and a quick browse through the thread didn't help.

I agree 110% with you about the effects on the logo but as I said, any less and you can't see it. I could move it onto a different or darker b'ground, but that would bugger the effect I was after.

Would 'rep' you, but must apparently spread some around before I can rep you again.

EDIT: Added, and looks great! Just what I wanted. I won't bother to re-post the sig, but yes, it looks 'right' now. Just gotta re-do the 'orb' now, and it should be good...

Hi everyone, good morning here.

Can someone supply me with the R.I.P. ribbon for Mike?

In lieu of that, and I really hate asking this because I know all of you are busy with your own lives, but could someone make a sig for me? I have been trying, but I'm still learning Paint.Net.

To give you some suggestions/background:

• Something along the lines of Bill, A Guy's sig dimensions with rounded corners in various lite shades/gradients of blue, could be a little narrower in height.
• R.I.P. ribbon for Mike.
• Font of your choice.
• Standard SevenForums Badges even plain text, MCCA badge not necessary.
• Anak with any reference to SevenForums even plain text, would like the wizard I have now in my current sig (I have a full beard) if possible, if not that's okay. See .png image below.
• Use of small Raptors, Red Tail Hawks - Falcons, the Moon like in my Avatar. Would only need one Raptor.
• Reflections maybe?
• Animations not necessary.
• Interests: Astronomy, Cosmology, Nature, Gardening, Computers.

A Guy, you're a lifesaver, it has been so long ago, and I did my present one with one of those online sig makers I wouldn't of known where to start looking even Tineye couldn't find it.
