But I know more than I did a month ago and my skill set is improving.

This is the result of good association, this is what a good forum gives us. Lot of good friends and exchange of knowledge.

I feel the force is strong within this young "lorddenis" it be and if he keeps training in the way of the GFX I know a jedi he may become (gotta day that in a Yoda voice)

Look around the whole internet, whats going on, what people likes, what flavor of work you need to deliver. You yourself have to find it out.

lorddenis, don't be discouraged at all. PooMan is an experienced master. There is nothing at all wrong with your work.

My analysis BSOD's falls far short of several of the masters of BSOD analysis here; but I am learning all of the time and I learn from them. Will I ever catch up with them? Maybe not because they are learning and improving all of the time, too. But I know more than I did a month ago and my skill set is improving.

It is the same for you. There is nothing wrong with your skill set; you do good work. Keep at it. You may never catch PooMan; but so what? You will be better than you were yesterday.

When it comes to making custom shapes for your sigs, how do you go about doing it? I know how to make squares and circles obviously, but the abstract shapes how do you make them? I am pretty good at photoshop, so feel free to use any ps lingo

i dont know how evryvone else is doing them but i usualy use the select tool. you have a picture that youlike and select parts of it until you have a shape that you like.

Hiya pal

I don't actually use PS to design, I only use PS for some of the fancy effects, shading and brushes etc.
I predominately use CorelDraw & CorelPhotoPaint. I prefer working with vectors and then converting some of the line work to bitmap as I go.
You tend to have a lot more control and precision when manipulating the lines in CorelDraw but then again that's what CorelDraw was designed for.
Don't get me wrong I still use PS but since Corel X5 I don't need to use PS 1/2 as much as I used to.

Here's an example of how I manipulated some of the shapes in a tutorial I made for Arc to show him how I did LordBob's signature ... enjoy and give us a shout if you need any help

This was done in Corel X3 but X5 is pretty much the same ... best viewed full screen 480p

Hi Kirsch,

I would be more than happy to help. Instead of using the shape tool, I used the different type of selection tools, like rectangle marquee/elliptical marquee or any of the lasso tools. I select what I want, and then using the fill tool I fill it with any colour, and then to make compound shapes I just make another selection, and then staying on the same layer you just fill again, for the best effect with the same colour.
