I haven't worked on the warning code being displayed at the top yet, however whats written there is Not within the gadget, but a return error from the server.

What I did want to show was the current display that I have on mine.

Can you get yours to display similar to this? This is with the Default Theme.

I know this wasn't on your list, but I'm working on the flyout "Who's Online" right now. I've have it where the size and border are correct, but can't get the member names to fill the flyout yet. After I get this, I'll take a shot at the avatar.

The lines at the top "warning..." might be tough as its code written from within the gadget, but its not the gadget itself that is displaying it as far as I know. It appears that its the server that is looking for the correct info the gadget isn't sending and thus putting up the warnings. Anyway, here's the larger online flyout:

Sorry Guys, I didn't get much farther in correcting some of the issues raised. Originally I was working on the flyout and could get the flyout larger, but could not get it to list more users and I'm pretty sure its not up to the gadget as to how many users get listed. If you take a look at this link, you'll see the same as the flyout and all the flyout does is display whats provided from this address, so it up to "others" to set the amount of users displayed and how often it's refreshed.

Along with that address, is the main window, threads website. Looks like much to do with it is also not under the control of the gadget, but from this site and/or from hosting site,...dunno, I just don't enough about coding, thought I could get at the very least the user avatar, but I can't even find any reference to it in the gadget.

Main Gadget UI: (you might have to log into the gadget with your username and pw to see the threads displayed in your browser). If your already logged into the site and/or the gadget, you might just be able to click login without inputing any info, if not just log into the gadget as you normaly would (same as your sevenforums username & PW).

Also with seeing the "Warnings" at the top of these web pages, that means there out of the control and not part of the gadget as using these links, completely bypasses the gadget as the gadget only displays whats provided to it.

Not sure, but maybe its because of IE8 changes from previous versions and its compatibility mode? If anyone has IE6-7 and the gadget, ...they might not be seeing the Warnings, ...just a guess though.

If you wish to use IE instead of the gadget, you can resize the window (less than 100%) to remove the overlay, otherwise it works just like the gadget. If I have my IE8 window open full and change the zoom to 84% (Custom option at lower right) I have no overlay.

Hint: With IE8, when you want to open a thread from the gadget webpage press and hold the <CTRL> Key, while clicking on the thread link. This will open the thread in a new tab. This also works for all other links including Favorites, and links from other web pages.

New Info on the SevenForums Gadget...

for the Current Gadget users and those who would like to use it, but don't like the gadget. Please read my above post.

This displays the gadget within a browser tab. It works just like the gadget would except you don't even need to install it! Everything is displayed on a webpage tab. Click on the links above to use and resize your browser window to remove any overlay with the Gadgets Main UI Sections Thread. Save the above links to your Favs/Bookmarks.

Not sure why, the gadget has always worked using the same username & PW of your seveforums membership. I just closed and reopened it without problem.

Are you sure your entering the password correctly?

Sorry for such a silly question, but thats the only thing I can think of.

Try signing out sevenforums, clear out your cache, then try signing into the gadget first. If that doesn't work, sign into sevenforums, then into the gadget webpage.

When I'm signed into the gadget webpage and reopen a new gadget webpage, I get the login page, but without entering any info and just clicking login, logs me into webpage. Another words if I'm alreadly signed in to a gadget webpage and if I want to open another, I can leave the username and password blank and click login and the page opens.

Regarding the Guest link, thats the same way it works with the actuall gadget as well, ...dunno whats up with that either, but it has nothing to do with gadget, but with either sf or the server.

gadget must use another dbase because several members prior to the problem have been unable to log on to gadget using the correct username and password.

It went so far as to have them (jonathan_King, Tews, and several others) need to have a different user for gadget

Thats really strange, ...as you know I haven't been on the site in awhile, however the other day when I went to log in for the first time in a long time, it wouldn't except my old PW and I had to have it reset. Maybe thats all it will take is to create a new password.

While my browser was set to 88% to display all of the webgadget correctly, I had problems with clicking the add attachment link, so there might be other issues when having to resize your browser to a different size than 100%. It might work best in its own browser window changing the size to fit, and open another window at the normal 100% for working and posting.

Its not I that deserves any credit for the gadget, but I appreciate your kindness.
However I did discover the link addresses that allow it to run in a browser.

Regarding the warnings, that is either from sf and/or the server the gadget uses. The're not generated from the gadget as I see them too and I don't have the gadget installed. Not much can be done with that on mine/our end. Same with current members on-line. We could fit many more members on the list, but thats out of our control.
