Since you want to know how it works, though, the gadget opens a page on my server, where php , mysql, and apache is installed.

There, php does all the job. It uses curl, an applet that lets you "see" a url within a variable, and manipulate it. So, when I open the forum's page through that script, I do some text trimming and cutting to get only the parts that I need. (lots of it, this part took me most of the night) . Then, I break apart the parts, to manipulate them better. This is how I can change font sizes, image sizes etc.

It's really advanced php, I'm also a web designer/programmer, so I might not know nothing about gadgets for now, but I consider myself a php/mysql elite ...

i see php does its job very well...

havent gone in php or mysql myself but i have my tools already downloaded and ready to be installed....

Updated version just came out....

Thank you for testing.

Changes in this version:

1. By clicking the SF logo, you switch between 4 sizes, and sleep mode.
2. Added transparent border
3. Fixed update interval to a failsafe of 20secs
4. Added credits in "about page"

Just tried the update. Very nice. Been using the first one all morning.

One thing I'd like is when I put it to sleep, it jumps out on the screen. Not a big deal, but would be nice if it stayed about where the 7 logo is on the full sized gadget. In other words, under my other gadgets.

Edit: I think I know what you mean, you can drag it from the bottom where it says "sleeping", not from the image.

If I drag the sleeping gadget back under the others, Then I get this.



The other half of the gadget is on monitor 2.

Nicely done, I like it a lot. My only suggestion would be to separate the size/sleep button. Or have a way to cycle through the options in both directions. Great work though, thanks a lot!

Yes, very nice Limneos. The border's nice and the varied sizes and sleep mode. Excellent work for your very first gadget. I'm sure you need some sleep by now, LOL.

Feedback note, changing to different sizes is kind of slow and sticky, at least for me.
