No gadgets onscreen, but sidebar.exe is running in Task Manager.

How do you uninstall it if the gadget window won't won't open ?

There is an install option , but no uninstall.



If I click it , it says it's already installed



If I click replace, it says it's already on the desktop.



Can't see anything, and still can't open the gadget window

Hi thanks,

I had already stopped sidebar in Task Manager and deleted it.

But a quick scan with regscanner indicates some registry keys under "sevenforums". 38 in fact -they won't all be for this gadget, but to save digging thru manually, I put the folder back to see if there's a way of doing a proper uninstall.

Maybe I'll delete it again and see if my registry cleaner will do any good.

OK, that's done it.

Wise regcleaner found around 20 - javascript and skins , and Glary seemed to pick up a couple more.

Regscanner now only shows 14 under sevenforums, and I can see what they are.

All clear - gadget window opens properly again.

So how come this gadget isn't working for me ? Shame - it looks pretty good.

Guys - thanks for your speedy and helpful responses - really appreciated.

Completely off topic - like the Avatar.

Patrick Stewart gave the best stage performance I ever experienced - in The Master Builder. Mesmerising.

I went right at the end of the run - if I had seen it earlier , I would have gone again. Bumped into him a couple of times - pleasant guy, too.

Hello to all...Nice to see you're doing some modding yourselves

I read about SIW's problem, I don't know why it could be happening. Do you have the latest version? 1.1 ?

I don't think I've asked the gadget to save anything to the registry. perhaps windows does it itself for some default settings, like opacity etc...
As for uninstalling, you probably have some other issue. Try having it closed completely, and on the gadgets page, right-click on it and select uninstall.

Will post back later with some updates I'm working on. (Flyout window is on its way)

Thanks - yes strange it only happened on my machine. The gadget window wouldn't open so that uninstall option wasn't accessible.

I used v1.1.

Maybe I'll try it again later.

I just had a very odd thing happen. Had just come out of sleep mode, the comp. not me, and clicked on a link in the gadget and the gadget went to the page. Had to close and reopen to get to normal. Haven't been able to repeat the event so far.

This just happened again. Again it was when clicking on a link soon after waking from sleep.

Next time I'll try giving it a minute extra to wake up. I think it's still groggy from it's nap.

Edit: This only happens if I put the comp to sleep without first putting the gadget to sleep and happens only rarely. Not a bother really, just letting you know.

I think i understand what you mean here.... you would like to see the gadget to display forum posts while being the same size all all standard gadgets...
However did you know by clicking on the 7 logo and cycling threw the different displays you will eventually get to one that is around the correct size to match all the other gadgets... however this is only sleep mode but keeps everything tidy

OK, I didn't know that. I was expecting a gadget that would be the same size as other gadgets but that would expand when clicked on. Not sure if that's possible anyway. It was just a thought.

I found this tune though, and I'm going to merge it with the gadget's intro or something...
