Hi Ed !
I told you earlier that I am not good enough with vector art (I mean Corel Draw), But PooMan taught me a technique to have a vector copy of any image. I tried (:sarc:) with that logo . it is exported to png format .

Thanks Arc - I am intrigued by the idea of converting from raster to vector. Can you, or PooMan, pass along the technique (or point to the thread)?

I understand that the PNG format is rapidly becoming a favored compression. But doesn't it make for larger files though? If given the choice between TIFF, JPEG (including .jp2), PNG, etc... why choose PNG?

Here is my final edit on what started out as a simple experiment...

We prefer PNG as it maintains the transparency and best compression. GIF also maintains transparency and mainly used for animation.

BTW, nice work you got there :)

Arc pal that tutorial isn't really converting a raster to a vector. The image in the video is called a metafile. It has a vector outline with a bitmap interior, this means you can't change the colours of the flag by just clicking on it. But you could put it over a solid background and you wouldn't have the white block around it. If it was a true vector you would be able to just click on the individual objects and manipulate them to your hearts content. :)
When I get home from work I'll see if I get chance to make a demo.

btw, you don't need to upload the tutorial to a file hosting site just post the you tube link ;)

I believe he must have d/l the video and kept in his collections. And so uploaded it again to share. I too like to d/l any vdo and keep in my safe rather than watching it streaming. You may know, we in india doesnt have much of the internet bandwidth :(

And thanks for the vdo pal.

Actually I have a little knowledge about vectors . Probably it is due to lack of thinking in this area. I can remember now that in Lordbob's sig it was possible to click on a part and edit it, but it is not possible here. I think I should devote more time with Corel Draw.

About Corel Draw, I am happy that now I am able to apply extrude and intersection . I had to try hard to get a control over it; and you also had to, Nick , for making one after another tutorials :D

Yes pal :) , I have download it to my HD, and there is a lot of videos in a tutorials folder . Not nnly videos, but there are a few pdf files too :D It is not more than four months ago Gladson and Anthony advised me to use photoshop, and so I started using it.

It is my good luck, Nick's effort and you all friends best wishes that I learned something in such a short period :D

Bandwidth without cap is every where expensive, as far I know, especially if its wireless. I use Reliance for speed and Airtel for unlimited download, its slower than tortoise but very cheap.

I was talking about my learning . In this regard I must to say about another person, Dennis. The Howling Wolves ! He improves in a jet speed. I put more credit on Dennis than me , coz firstly he is an aged person, and generally it is said that ability to learn decay after a certain age . Finally , and the most important thing is he does everything here and at the same time nursing his severely ill wife . This is an example I think, example of attitude towards life .

I hope you would not have applied the previous one again :D It will not be there.

After uploading the sig image, click on "insert signature picture" , and it will put a SIGPIC text in edit signature box. Now save signature, and it will be there :D

Ohhh...what I wanted is not this! I enabled transparency, so that "Abhishek" looks like blown out and background can be seen.

When I get home from work I'll see if I get chance to make a demo.

Well as promised here's the tutorial.

You will see towards the end I duplicate the image to the bottom left this is so I can do some of the fancy stuff once I've converted certain objects to bitmap (the win logo) ... there is a reason for this. It's so that if I want to go back and change colours etc. the original drawing I made is a vector so I can just click on the individual objects and change them as I see fit (colours etc.). If I'd already converted these objects to bitmap then I would be back where I started.

Ps. don't forget to save your artwork in it's native format before exporting the image to bitmap in this case as a cdr file (CorelDraw) ;)

Soz had to do it in 2 parts (You tube limits :() --- (best viewed "full screen in 480p)
