Daemon Tools - build 7201x64 error

I'm having trouble installing Daemon Tools Lite on my friend's PC. He was running it fine on build 7137x64 and now that I have gone ahead and done an Upgrade and tried reinstalling it, it says that it is doing the SPTD Setup "Installing please wait..." as it should. Then it asks you to restart, as normal. But after restarting, it does the same thing with the SPTD Setup and asks to restart.

I am currently using build 7201x86 on MY computer and am running it without any problems, then again I did do a clean install. Anyone else having this problem? Anyone else running 7201x64 that did a clean install that successfully got Daemon Tools Lite to work? (as this would rule out whether or not the Upgrade method had anything to do with it.) Thanks.

I had the same problem.

Just download the new version of SPTD driver 1.59 and instead of install/uninstall choose upgrade. Then restart your computer and try to install Daemon tools again.. it will work

The other way to fix this problem is to uninstall SPTD drivers before updating Windows 7. Its more avoiding but it works

I tried installing STPD version 1.59, it gave no upgrade option since it didn't find a previous install. It then said I had to restart, I did. Then to make sure it installed, I ran the 1.59 installer again and it said it didn't detect an SPTD install. So I'm just not being able to install the STPD. What gives...

Same problem when you try to install the old Version? (SPTD 1.58)
You uninstalled Daemon Tools before upgrading right? Cause else the update won't work?

I did it like this:
1. Tried to install Daemons Tools Lite
2. Restarted
3. Run the Setup of SPTD 1.59
4. Restarted again
5. Setup started with the upgrade option

I uninstalled Daemon Tools before upgrading, but apparently not the STPD Drivers.

Strange. I had the same problem but for me updating was working :/

it worked! i was able to install the STPD drivers by editing the STPD reg entry, then deleting it as stated in the previous link.
