Daemon Tools Wrecked My Windows 7 Computer

I installed Daemon Tools this afternoon and the program told me to reboot. I did reboot, but now, I can't start up my computer normally. It freezes at the Welcome Screen, and I can't go on any further. I can go on Safe Mode however. Is it because my computer used to be Windows Vista but was then updated to Windows 7 and this upgraded system isn't compatible with Daemon Tools? I read online that it's the SPTD.sys that's wrecking my computer, but I can't remove it. That is, I can't remove its registry keys. Can anyone help? Thanks!

I just went back and uninstalled another program, and now I can see the desktop. However, the computer freezes right after the desktop comes up.

Yes, sptd.sys is well known causing problem in windows7.
You must uninstall that program and remove sptd.sys with SPTDinst.

I just went back and deleted SPTD from the registry. But it's still not working. Is it still because of the SPTD? One more thing: I had downloaded SPTD to uninstall it completely, but it keeps telling me that I don't have SPTD installed.

It's mean that spdt.sys has gone.
However if your windows still freezing, maybe there is still another problem beside it.
Do system file checker -> command prompt(as administrator) -> sfc /scannow -> enter

The scan said there's no problem, but I ran a diagnostic startup and the startup failed. I just ran the startup repair and here's the list of problems it gave me:

If you removed the program via deleting registry strings, as opposed to doing a normal uninstall via Programs & Features, or the program's uninstall feature.... you didn't do a proper uninstall, which in turn may do more harm than good.

If you're going to delete registry strings (you shouldn't) at least do a proper removal first.

As to your problem.... you could try this....http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html?ltr=R

Before running Repair Install, then you might want to try restoring to a system restore point from before the time the problem appeared.

If such is not possible, then a Repair Install, using the procedure in the link provided to you would be wise.

Please look through the links provided. Or do you not have a Windows 7 disc?

I don't. My computer was a Vista that was upgraded to Windows 7. I tried everything on the link you gave me, but I'm afraid it's still not working. I finally decided to copy everything onto a hard drive and reformat the hard drive. Thanks for your help everyone!
