Under the name “Palinopsia Bug” a group of developers report about graphics adapters that remember the contents of your screen even after rebooting the computer. This is achieved by simply accessing the content of the graphic card’s frame buffer. While currently being just a proof of concept, the “Palinopsia Bug” could be a potential severe security issue.

Lol, wut this bug gonna remember, the screen that says "Windows is shutting down"? Unless the card buffers > 60 frames, and Windows takes < 1 sec to shut down, so all those 60 frames managed to capture something other than the shut down screen during that 60Hz display update cycle, what dey gonna do with an image of dat shuddown screen enyweys?

I know they compared Linux and Windows but wouldn't the data be lost on a dual boot system? You restart the computer from windows then reboot into Linux, will the screen shot of windows be there? You restart the computer from Linux then reboot into windows, will the screen shot of Linux be there?

I am sure it is fixable via bios swap on a GPU

Remember not everyone will do this but the majority of the gaming public should be safe after Purging the Bios

that bug would have a hard time trying to attack to random bios changes so with that being said it's only a danger to corporations and also if most are using onboard through the CPU then i would expect it to be much harder to bypass because it will manipulate the CPU as well and make it do things it's not supposed to

To be honest, it's not much of a threat. If someone has access to your machine, there are worse things to worry about I just enjoy the possibilities of it all. A Guy

It's not a restart, it's a poweroff - poweron, to clear the storage...

I'm not worried by this, at all...
