Data compression software.

So hey guys, whatsup?

so I have huge amout of game backups/software backups/random stuff I downloaded off internet.
I organized all of it last night, trying to get more space, but I still have over 70gb of data, so barely i freed up 10gb of data, so is there any compression software that can compress like upto 50%


70gb to 10-20gb?

Have you considered the .zip archive function built into Windows 7?

.rar is supposed to be tightter, but I know of no freeware utilities to create .rar archives. (WinRAR is shareware.)

There's no guaranteed size reduction for lossless compression. particularly if you're trying to compress stuff that is already compressed by nature (like many video formats).

If you want good compression ratio check out 7-Zip and its free!

If you want to turn 70gb to 10-20gb, that's impossible, unless you convert your videos into some formats like mp4,rmvb, they will be less larger. As danielb7390 said 7-Zip is a choice, you can turn you file in package in form of rar. But 7-Zip provides a compression ratio that is 2-10 % better than the ratio provided by PKZip and WinZip.

I have tried both 7-zip and rar, they didnt work, since all video are already mp4 and mkv perhaps, but well, another round of tidying got me some space for now, though, thanks for the help.
