DDos Prevention Guide

I found the DDoS trending on Twitter, and then discovered that a number of users have been posting this link:

FUD, the chances of a normal person being hit by a ddos is very very remote and the user's ISP would pull the plug on the IP as soon as it was noticed.

I think in regards to LoL, this would be a useful read. I remember days of win95 and Diablo1 where you could kick a user out of the game by sending data to their computer Buffer overflow - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia which would pretty much BSoD their computer ( i don't remember exactly was ~15 years ago) This was not central to Diablo1, it had to do with the win95 architecture. which MS "promptly" fixed. Until it was fixed, though, this was fairly common to see. I can see this type of thing still happening today as people will still use dirty tactics to get an unfair advantage. If you are on a server and someone can see your IP then they can DoS you. the chances of it are small, but given a game where people see an advantage to this, it could get quite popular (as the buffer overflow thing did). The chances of someone DDoSing you is even smaller obviously. If you are DDoS'd successfully though you could (i would assume) lose your connection to the gaming server.

Can anyone who plays LoL comment on how common this is?
