Fri night, my x64 Ultimate, 8GB Ram, AMD x3 took a power outage.
Since it came back up, I have had multiple, intermittent BSOD's with a range of reasons - SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION, PNF_TABLE_CORRUPT.. that all appear related to kernel32.exe crashing.

Looks like a memory problem, so I checked BIOS (MSI K9A2GM) and looks like RAM voltage is set to "auto" and is greyed-out, where (IIRC) I used to have it set to 1.8v.

so... now when I power it up, I don't even get to the BIOS logo screen that lets me go into setup or view POST output..

Suggestions gratefully suggested !
TIA,

TIA,

Yank all the ram and try to boot into safe mode (F8). Does it get past POST (bios screen)?

Been out of town all week...
will try changing out the mobo battery when i get home. See if that changes anything. Will then yank RAM (as suggested) if that fails miserably!

Replaced battery... still no post.
Removed all ram.... still no post.
Removed graphics card... still no post.
Removed all periphal devices (DVD, etc).... still no post.
Removed all power connections except to mobo.... still no post.

Conclusion:
either PSU has gone to copper heaven or...
mobo is dead, dead, dead.

anyone come to any better conclusions ??

Unless I upgrade - will need mobo with DDR2 support and AM2+ socket.
grrrr...

If you had a power outage or spike the psu will be the first to go. See if you can try another psu and try that one. power supplys are a lot cheaper than MB os try that first.

Ken,
I don't think the PSU is gone as I can hear the drives, DVD's etc power up when they are connected. It did occur to me that if the cpu is fried, the POST would fail too.. either way, I think the evidence still points toward the mobo.
