I have had my new laptop since mid july and it has always run alittle warm. I use coretemp to monitor my cpu and its always high 60's low 70's. Within the last week the temps are in the 70's and low 80's the fan still kicks out warm air but not at the speed it used too. Will speed fan actually show me the rate my fan is spinning at?

When was the last time you blasted air through to clean the system. Am I to assume it's still under warranty? If so then for sure call the manufacturer and have it checked if cleaning doesn't get the temps down. The fan could be spinning slower for the dust balls building up inside. Might try vacuum on exhaust and air on intake to get as much as possible out. Remember to turn unit off remove battery and a/c plug.

Do you use this on your lap or on the bed. Do you have pets, cats or dogs. Is the environment dusty or just regular home use. Do you leave the laptop on all the time? If regular and you use it with it's legs up to allow cool air in then it could be another serious issue but a good cleaning would be a good starting point as even in normal situations they still collect dust.

Well I live with my grandparents while im in college in a dust free zone lol. But when I go home I have a dog and two cats so yes there is a lot of dust and hair around. My laptop is used almost all day. I just swept the exhuast and restarted the comp. My intake is literally on the bottom of the edge of my laptop and when u turn the corner to the back my exhaust is right there. I can really see how that keeps your laptop cool. Yes there are other areas where air flow can come into but the main intake is right by the exhuast that said I swept the exhaust and there was some dust but more than ne thing else about 10 pieces of dog hair ( inch or two in length). So I will see how it runs if im still not happy i will pick some compresed air up. If that doesnt do the trick I will be calling dell.

I think your on the correct path and likely a air blast will dislodge a dust/hair ball and temps should drop.

They already have :) the max temp so far is 52 compared to 80. Everyday I have handled my comp like it was fragile, I run all my scans and everything every night. I wipe it down I wipe down my screen everything. I dont know how I never realised I didnt clean the fan at all. Its a much needed improvement now and I will add it to my list of things to clean bimonthly thanks for your help. Still think I should buy compressed air? Im pretty sure since the intake and exhuast are right next to each other ym sweeper sucked it all out I watched the intake and it cleaned up some.

For sure it's a great aid to cooling and also a little blast on the keys helps to get the crumbs and dust out of them just be careful of lifting the key pads off with the air.

No worries, my Gateway laptop has keys that will lift if the air can is fresh and you blast them close up, lol. This is a cool literally little item.
A little theater. In your lap.

It looks sweet but I already have a 9 cell so it sits way up already and I got the surroundsound for my laptop its even got a sub built into it. But i can recomend that to my friend whose laptop always over heats and his sound is awful! (I like to rub it in his face)

Perfect my Gateway has good speakers (relative) with a sub (laughable). But it's makes the laptop sound bearable.
