The Black Edition will make for an easy overclock with unlocked multiplier I just wish they could make these quads in like a 65 watt TDP

hm.... or you could go ahead and get something like a 5850 and build a system around that.... unless you want to use nivida which means you should get a bout a 260 or maybe a 275

i have been a nvidia fan for a long time because of ati's problem with coming up with decent drivers. now i am looking to go back to ati because it seems they have got their act together. the reason i have for switching back is simply nvidia is known for repackaging old products under new names. i really would suggest that you find an ati card you like in you price range. like the one below.

The GPU is very good IMHO and ive maxed every game:
Crysis xconfig on lvl 4, Natural mod, extremely high settings 1600x900 and I get 33 fps average
Modern Warfare 2 is 92 FPS straight...No drops!

Yes, but a Phenom 955 has a great clock (which isn't everything) of 3.2GHz - 6MB of L3 cache - and overall, is a great choice.

Agreed, I would never recommend the 620 for gaming - it has no L3 cache - but for media its OK. You also can look at the specifics of the architecture such as SSE and other extension support, the data bus, address width, and pipeline stages of the cpu if you dig deep into the specs. AMD has all the performance for less - something Intel still needs to learn.

I am looking to upgrade my entire machine in a few months when i get tax return money, so I would prefer if the card could just be moved over when the time comes.

I was looking at possibly a 5850 ati card, but am open to suggestions.

If you are carrying it over, then the 5850 is a good choice.

But it also depends on whether your new mobo will support crossfire/SLI or both etc. If you are planning on a SLI only mobo, then go for a nvidia card.
