I am just short of doing a clean install of the system. With the help of Layback Bear over in General discussions I have got my machine running better than it was, but there are still signs that things are not as they should be. I built this machine to be a screamer, but I am not a gamer so what I do should not be a burden at all.
What I have done:
Uninstalled all IOBIT and Norton products. (This in itself really sped things up)
Installed MSE and MalwareBytes Pro.
Run full system scans with both MSE and MB along with SFC/Scannow. All scans showed everything to be peachy.
What is happening:
the biggest problem has been with my browsers. Chrome runs by far the best, but still is slow and not fining pages I know should be there. IE just sits there if I paste an address in the bar, I can search to sites, but links may or may not work and sometimes opens a new tab and other times opens a new window. Totally erratic behavior. I have not tried Firefox but I am fairly certain it would give similar results.
Programs are just not as snappy as they should be and when you are in an "open file" mode the search window inconsistently flashes from arrow to hula-hoop.
The device manager window flashes about once a second. I have two USB Controllers Under Unknown devices with yellow warnings. One is located on PCI bus 3 and the other on PCI bus 6. Iacan delete them but they pop uo again on reboot.
I get no error messages or warnings.
What I have learned:
The very things I was paying good money for for system protection have been my worst enemy.
Any suggestions before I wipe the system and start over would be greatly appreciated.
