Hi, wasn't sure which thread to post this under, but this does say Sound and Audio. Earlier today I restored my computer back to its factory settings, and then proceeded to transfer files I had wanted to keep back onto it. Everything seemed pretty fine but now I am picking up NO audio through my monitor. I'm not too sure when this happened so cannot decipher what exactly may have caused it. I have my visual and audio setup connected to a TV screen via a HDMI cable. How am I supposed to repair or fix whatever has gone wrong? I plugged some headphones into one of the ports and it did pick up those as plugged in.
Any help would be fantastic as I'm quite close on giving up on this machine now. :sleepy:

Audio playback device is set by the "playback devices" dialog, which you get to by RMB on the speaker icon in the System Tray. Select "playback devices", and then select your digital HDMI monitor and push the "set default" button at the bottom of the window.

Of course, you also need to have installed the relevant HDMI Audio driver for your video card (or from Realtek?). This is a separate HDMI Audio driver (i.e. separate from the video driver for your card) that would not necessarily come in your factory install, but for sure also needs to be installed to support audio via HDMI cable. Go to the video card web site driver support page (or Realtek?) and locate the HDMI Audio driver for your video card. Once it's installed the HDMI-connected monitor should appear in the list of "playback devices" and will allow you to "set default".

And now you should have audio through the speakers in the monitor, fed from the same HDMI cable that goes from video card to monitor for video.
