Default browser "save image" location

This isn't a bug but to document current IE/Chrome/FF behavior when saving an image.

When viewing a jpg image in IE 8.0.7600.16385, if you do right-click | Save Picture As, the default save location is Libraries\Pictures.

With FireFox 3.5.7, right-click | Save Image As, the save location is c:\users\username\downloads.

With Chrome 4.0.249.78, right-click | Save Image As, the save location is c:\users\username\documents\downloads

If using different browsers, this saves images in various locations when then must be manually consolidated.

With IE the default save location is a library, which can then be managed using the library feature: change default save location, etc.

With FF/Chrome, there's apparently no way to change the browser's default image save location. Does anyone know a workaround for this?

Decide on one browser as your default one.... easiest solution I can think of....

I think that the suggestion offered by Tews (Hi Tews) is practical. You have experience using several, now, choose the one that is the most satisfactory for your needs. Are you looking for speed, safety or features? Make your decision and use the browser that is the most satisfying. There is another post in this Forum, with an article indicating that IE 8 is now the most popular browser, which is my choice. Take care.

You can change the folder to which you download in FF; but you can't break it up into images, documents, etc. When you right click and select "Save image as..." in FF, you can change the download location. FF will remember that location for images once you have changed it.

I see Chrome now has extensions, similar to FF: https://chrome.google.com/extensions

Don't currently see one which saves images to a different download location. However like FF, Chrome can be configured to use a different default download location: options | Under the Hood | Download locations.

So if multi-browser use is required, the general solution is change them to save files in the same location. FF has the extension for separate save location for images. Chrome can optionally prompt you for a specific save location each time.

Maybe someone will write a Chrome extension to give the same image save capability as FF.

The default save locations for FF and Chrome can also be a library, which you then control with Win7 library config steps.
