Default fonts?

So, what are they?

I have way too many fonts on my machine and need to know what fonts were preinstalled.

I think I might be able to delete fonts based on their modification date, but I just want a list to be sure.

I have Windows 7 installed and downloaded Service Pack 1. I originally had MS Office 2007 Ultimate but have since installed MS Office 2010 Professional and uninstalled 2007.

Office is critical to this list because additional fonts were installed with it.

If anyone has a list of fonts installed or can just send me a folder that would be great. You would need to have Windows 7 and MS Office installed. Preferably 2007 or 2010.

I checked this thread: http://www.sevenforums.com/customization/61152-where-can-i-download-standard-windows-7-fonts.html but there are too many fonts.

And Microsoft's lists are just too confusing/weird/inaccurate/samples in Arabic text.

So long as you have the base fonts in place office and windows should continue to work.

that would be fine and good, but it's apparently default Arabic fonts. I'm looking for default US fonts.

Actually what you need is the font name, it doesn't matter if their examples are arabic or something like that. (really don't know why, but that's Microsoft site)

Actually, I don't have (and never had) many fonts on that list. Many seem like they should be native to the Arabic language and probably are. Specifically, a few fonts that are unusual include "Arabic Typsetting" and "Traditional Arabic." You mean to tell me that these fonts are default? Not i-n the USA they ain't!

I'm wondering, though, could I somehow install the fonts from my Windows 7 installation CD? It's an "upgrade" CD, but I had no problem installing it on a blank drive. Microsoft lied.

But I digress: the CD must have installed some default fonts, but I cannot find a "fonts" folder on the CD with more than 5 files (not even font files) so the folders are either hidden or simply copying is out of the question.

Anyway, the fonts aren't a big deal as I may be able to use the "date modified" field to delete the fonts *I* added.

Microsoft states that you need a qualifying OS in order to install the "upgrade", they never said that the qualifying OS needs to be installed on the machine they didn't lie.

That makes no sense. What's the point of the requirement then?

The point remains, though, that the CD must have installed the fonts.
