default Installation Directory 64 bit

Hello< I have windows 7 64 bit and I have partitions my hard drive like many others. The issue I seem to have is I want to sent my OS to drive c and have the default Installation Directory to D:. I looked up online and found a few regisrty keys to change

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion

ProgramFilesDir, ProgramFilesDir (x86)

and have changed them from

C:/Program Files to

D:/Program Files.

The issue I still seem to have is when i download an program and try to installl it the default location is still C

any suggstion if Im missing something?

You might want to rethink your partitioning if your C is so small you need to worry about where to install apps. That being said, why mess with system variables anyway. If you create a directory called D:\Program Files, and point your installers to use that folder, your apps will still work fine.
