Hi all. We were having a sound discussion over at our iRacing forums about sampling rates. This is a little issue I ran into when trying to get my surround setup running. Upon Boot up and even a reboot my system returns the sounds to the default stereo 2 speaker settings. I go into the control panel/sounds and run through the sound wizard set it up for 5.1 then deselect the center speaker as I don't have one anyway. Everything stays that way until I reboot, or cold boot the next day. I do run the Creative software and have to set it to 4.1 in the speaker tab also every time. Is there a way to get it to stay at the selected surround settings permanently?

Hardware is:
Creative Audigy 2 platinum latest drivers dated 6/29/10
Windows 7 pro
Klipsch 4.1 surrounds

Yes sir. it goes right back to stereo with any and every combination I've tried. The Klipsch 4.1's really have nothing to do with it. They just plug directly in to the soundcard, and are hooked up correctly as far as phasing and polarity. But it definetely reverts to stereo on boot or reboot. I'm surprised that no one else noticed this with W7. Surely it just cant be mine thats doing it.
