Unfortunately, quite a few of the Internet security suites will mux up your computer's performance cause they expect to be running on 'latest and greatest' at times, which not all of us can, so we see bigger performance hits. It is almost getting to the point where the slimmer, better performing ones are going to be the free ones.

Correct. However, if you are using the KIS firewall and decide to replace KIS 2011 with MSE, be sure to activate the Windows 7 Firewall.

I uninstalled KIS and installed MSE..It is lite and fast.

Don't forget Corrine's reminder to turn Windows Firewall back on.

Even though you might be behind a router, if you are sharing your connection with other people, having a software firewall is a 'backup' against others in your network who might not be as smart with regards to the internet and the windows firewall is your last line of defense.
