Windows 7 Pro 64bit. After boot up all desktop including gadgets appear but the Messenger does not/takes a long time. I disabled Messenger from the start-up list yet this did not help and the delay continued. I have read a tutorial about diagnosing delayed boot up but it is beyond my knowledge and experience. I will appreciate guidance and help in this matter. Thank you

Windows 7 - Delayed boot

Sorry. I could not follow the instruction because I did not find the option
c. Click to select half of the check boxes in the Service list in the step below:-
Step 2: Enable half of the services
Will appreciate guidance as to how to enable half the services. Do I have to click each service one by one until I reach half of the list?
According to event viewer diagnostic logs the list of the services causing delayed boot is quite long to name few:-
Multi Media Class Sceduler Service
Group Policy Clinent
ProfSVC
System Event Notification service (SENS)
SVChost.exe
System Iron
Windows Audio Service.
Look forward to advice and help. Thanks

Let me try to explain in my words.
Un check all the services. Then if the computer runs the way it should, put one or two services back at a time by checking them. At the point that the computer does not work properly, you know it was one of the recently checked ones.

some of those are microsoft services - are you sure you ticked the box 'hide all microsoft services'?

and yes, do tick/untick half the boxes...but only the non-microsoft ones!

There are delay in the start of system, must be a virus issue. This is the biggest sign of it.

If you think there is a virus, run a full scan anti virus
and

Dear Rich and all members who have kindly responded.

I have done whatever was required in the instructions but was unable to pin point any specific item. I enclose details if these can be of any guide. Kindly bear in mind I am not a technical person.
Regarding virus or malware I scan my computer every day using Norton 360 and in addition today I used Microsoft Malware remover too which did not find any problem.

Thank you all very much for help and advice which is very much appreciated.
Kind regards
Kris
