Delete Broken Boot Option.

When I first boot into my PC I'm faced with 2 boot options:

Windows 7 and
Windows 7 Proffesional (Recovered)

The second was generated after using a recovery disk unnecasairly I think.

It will not boot and just goes to a blank black screen where as 'Windows 7' boots perfectly.

I would like to remove it from the boot list because it means I have to press the enter key half way through boot, which is more annoying than you may think.

All suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

To Remove the Partition: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows7/Delete-a-hard-disk-partition

   Warning

Be sure to backup your hard drive before performing this task

To Remove the Option From Boot:
Start > msconfig > System Configuration > Boot Tab > Highlight the recovered option and delete

Try using msconfig,

Go to start, type msconfig then go to the boot tab and delete the Windows 7 Pro (recovery) from the boot list, it then should boot to Windows 7 automatically..

Hi,

I have this problem now also..

Short history,
Says WIndows Recovered,
does not boot,
used F8, tried various options,
finally booted with Last known Good option.
Reboot
Recovered option still listed, but does not boot.
I have to F8 and select Last known Good option.

Search and found this thread,
Msconfig reports on the boot menu as the only option is win7 recovered,
as such I cannot remove it.

What do I do now?

Hello mate.

If you are able to boot to Windows, post a snip of Windows disk management.

   Note

Before we make any specific recommendations will you please post a snip/screen-shot of the entire Windows disk management drive map with a full description as to which drive/partition is which, so we can see what you have going on as there may be a fairly simple way to resolve the situation.

In the Windows start menu right click computer and click manage, in the left pane of the "Computer Management" window that opens click disk management and post a maximized snip of that.

Ok,
Figured it out,
never used the snipping tool before,
but here it is..

Also after running repair boot up option a few times now while waiting,
It still says recovered upon bootup, but it does boot with that option now.

And before I forget,
this is a dual boot machine with XP on another drive..
if that makes a difference or not.

Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times

Mark the C: partition as Active and do the 3 separate startup repairs to (re)create the Windows "System" boot files to the Windows 7 partition, this will not affect XP; and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

Changed Partition to active,
ran system repair 3 times in a row,
still says recovered, but boots.
At this point, I dont mind it saying recovered.

Unless there's a way to change it, it works now and boots fine.
