Re:Win 7 64bit
I have seen the various threads re. ownership-deletion of system files but have a situation where the usual methods are not working.
Used the Win 7 clean up old check box and found 2 corrupt system files remaining: ЃϵϳЅЂϿϽϯІχϯπρϯϸϹϴϴϵϾ and ЃϵϳЅЂϿϽϯІχϯπρϯϸϹϴϴϵϾϻϵЉ , both ending with an empty space character. Moved the containing folder to the desktop and have the usual Could not find this item error when deleting from an elevated cmd window. Filenames become the long form versions when dragged to the cmd window e.g. ???????????p???????? . Ran sfc integrity check and tried LockHunter but they both say OK. Tried an rmdir /s on the containing folder without success. The Properties-Security tab says information unavailable on these files. Any help for deletion of these stubborn files much appreciated.

Thanks Dave

Delete them from outside of Windows using an OS that only resides in RAM (the above do this).

Try MoveOnBoot...

Would not accept the system file and also tried deleting the folder. No delete in both cases. Extended this to delete from a cmd in Safe Mode but without success. The system file corruption appears to be in the path and filename.

Thanks

Next time = Unlocker

Unlocker is an app. Use it to delete. It always takes care of those random crazy character orphaned files.

note: the actual unlocking function of the app does not work in Win7.

UNLOCKER 1.8.8 BY CEDRICK 'NITCH' COLLOMB

See this thread about it:
http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/14657-folder-its-files-cant-deleted.html

I'm confused about your statement that the unlocking function doesn't work in Win 7. The other thread indicates that it works, and I used it about 4 days ago. What doesn't work?

Unless they changed something in 1.8.8 from 1.8.7, if a file is in use by the OS, it can not tell the OS to get "off" the file. For instance, a locked log file can not be unlocked and then deleted.

This only describes Win 7 and like I said, may have been changed with new version.
