Solved deleted c drive

my daughter has in a fit of temper deleted the c drive off my lap top can it be restored by just putting in the recovery disc or do i need to take it to a shop to get proffesional help. the lap top is a week old and runs windows 7 64 bit what ever that means.
Yes she has been grounded big time and hung drawn and quartered.

Just load the recovery disk, restart your computer, follow any prompts and your laptop will be restored to its out-of-box state.

Try not to be too harsh on your daughter, she knows how you feel.

I've always found that hanging them up from their toes is very effective.


What make/model PC is it, it may have a built-in recovery partition that will function much better than the disks will and they're usually much easier too.

How did your daughter delete C: drive, as this can not be done, if booted in to windows?

That's what you think. Just when you think she's grown out of it she'll either get a boyfriend or get married, and then the grandkids start on you - there's no escape from it.

What is the exact verbatim message you get when you attempt to boot the laptop?

If you reboot and then repeatedly tap the F8 key, can you enter Safe Mode? Can you access Repair My Computer to run Startup Repair from System Recovery Options?

Please reply back with results of each of these steps and the make/model and we will give you steps to recover lost partition or rescue any files and run Factory Recovery.

Not sure how she managed that .........

If a partition has been deleted, then run a bootable app. with a partition undelete function - like the free Partition Wizard Bootable CD allows user to boot computer directly to manage partition.

hi it seems she did not delete the c drive as when i switched it on it worked I asked the "accused" what she did but she is refusing to talk to me untill the grounding is revoked.:banghead: my wife said everything was black when comp was on as i was at work i can not say what happened. so if anything i think it might be a false alarm as c drives go but the lap top is ok now so thats great. If you discover on here a surly 9 yr old female trying to find out how to destroy the world let me know she will be mine.

I managed to help bring up three daughters and I'm still alive to tell the tale.

As for the laptop screen going black that could have been the battery power saver kicking in.

Anyway, nice to know there's no permanent damage apart from a very bruised young ego, so if you do get any further problems with your laptop, you know where to turn to.

Said child should lose computer privileges for a very long time. And most certainly her account on the computer should be severely limited to avoid such issues in the future.
