Deleted file not deleted

I deleted a Windows XP game file using the uninstall function in the control panel. A few days later my grand daughter wanted to play it and when I tried to install it I got a message stating that it was already installed. I did the "search programs and files" and the game does not show up. Is there a better method of deleting a file.
I am running Parallels 8 on my 27" 2011 iMac OS 10.6.8 12GB Ram

Try scanning files and registry with CCleaner, also check %AppData% and ProgramData, Program Files, My Documents for remaining files.

Many thanks for the rapid reply. I don't know what app data and program data is or how to find them. Did find it in my program files and deleted it but not in my documents. Still will not install so will give ccleaner a try.

You can also google and download a little free program called "everything".
Start it and type in the file/game you are looking for, it will show you where the remnants are.
Also you can install "revo uninstaller" for any future deletions, it tends to find lot's of little buggars hiding in corners too.

Win+R then:
C:\ProgramData and also %appdata% will open those folders respectively.

Thanks to you both for the suggestions. Have tried all of the suggested things but still get the same results. Guess I will just delete win 7 and start all over.

Try if you can see traces of it with Revo Uninstaller Free.

Can you share which game this is? I could try it perhaps. Unless it is a licensed game of course.
