Presently, Skype 5.10 is on my computer. But I also have a window's update (Skype 5.10 for Windows (KB2727727)). Problem is that this update won't install and every time I go to shut the computer down, I have to scroll through closing choices (shut down, hibernate, sleep, etc) and as whether or not I want the update installed. As this update can't presently be installed and it's a PITA when going to Sleep as I have to choose between Install Updates and Sleep, how can I get this update to go away without installing it so that I can get to my closing functions without having to muck with Install Update now?

Hmm - I'd be inclined to uninstall Skype completely, and reinstall from a fresh download.

However, before doing anything that drastic....

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

Well, until I decide, I have hidden the update and no longer get the message to download the new Skype. But, then again, I could delete my present Skype and reload the newest version (which is the one I presently have???).

If I were to uninstall Skype and the profile, will I have to set things up again on the new Skype? Also, if I uninstall using Control panel's uninstall, will the profile also be uninstalled or do I have to look elsewhere to uninstall it?

EDIT: Tried to dl Skype upgrade and install, but keep getting an installation failed : Code 2 message (couldn't find a file). I'm starting to think that a reason for this problem may be that I have the portable version of Skype installed and not the desktop version. Can't quite remember why I have the portable version, but at the time of installation I was probably having a problem installing the desktop version???
