Deleting MBR

Ok guys I've spent hours googling and downloading programs. I'm tired of it.

I just want to delete the MBR on both my hard drives. Why? Because I want to. I'm going to delete my MBD and then I'm going to do a quick format of both of my whole hard drives. That's all I want to do.

BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

EVERY - SINGLE - PERSON

Will not give a clear direct answer to HOW THE @&$* DO I DELETE MY MASTER BOOT RECORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I DONT HAVE FDISK!!!!!! I DONT KNOW WHERE TO DOWNLOAD FDISK! I TRIED FDISK COMMANDS ON A COMMAND PROMPT - NOT RECOGNIZED!

So please, please...if anyone here can just tell me in the most simple way how to delete the master boot record on both hard drives...I can't believe there is no utility to do this...should be a utility called "Delete MBR" in my honest opinion.

Look in the free software here http://www.sevenforums.com/software/92-free-great-programs-windows-7-a.html & look for a partition manager & reformat that should delete the mbr & all info on the drive. A simple fast google leads to 80 places to download fdisk. Fdisk is part of DOS and that can be download burned to dvd and run from there. Bootdisk.Com - Free Windows Bootdisks, Free DOS boot disk

You cant run it from within an OS., but it will delete the MBR.

Easiest way I know to do this is to get the DBAN (Darick's Boot and Nuke) iso file. Create a CD from it using ImgBurn, boot it and enter autonuke at the first prompt. Let it run for a few minutes. You now have a raw, uninitialized hard drive that you will have to partition and format.

I clear the MBR on any of my drives before reinstalling, or switching OSes that are installed. I use a program called gdisk on a bootable flash drive, which was originally part of Ghost. The switch gdisk 2 /mbr does the trick, assuming 2 is the drive you plan to clear.

You can do this easily enough from the Win7 installation or Repair disk, accessing the System Recovery Options Command Line to wipe the hard drive(s) with Diskpart Clean Command.

This is all that's needed to clear the critical boot code and partition table that can sometimes interfere with a hard drive booting or OS installation.

I had the same problem and all the above posts didn't help me at all.
However i thought of an easy solution that can be done in less than 1 min (without leaving windows).
Go to Disk Management
Delete all the partitions of the Drive that has messed up MBR [most likely from a linux installation (you'd lose them anyway if you wipe the MBR)].
Right click on the drive and convert it to GPT.
Done.

This is how most people find their way here, Jeannie: Doing web searches which depending upon the phraseology can land in any of countless threads about the same subject, of which I'm sure this one has thousands.

If one person replied to it then it's likely a hundred have also found it so I always make sure they are updated because each year we add to our knowledge and sometimes have whole new repair regimens for a given problem. We can add to the forums' quality for years to come by keeping old threads current.
