Solved Deleting old win folder

I have a folder from when I first installed Win 7 that contains my old windows. It a over 13 GB and I want to remove it as it's been sitting around for 4 years now.

When I try to remove it I get the error message I do not have permission. I am the administrator and allowed all but special permissions on the drive. When I try to change the read only attributes I get the message I need permsisson for the "Trusted Installer".

Everything I've tried says access denied. Even in the command prompt using the suggested prompt RD /S /Q "D:\old win"

So how do I get rid of this folder?

you may want to copy any data that is in your users folder in the windows old folder before trying the steps in this tutorial...

It is on another drive. H:\old win is the name. When I chose to delete system restore and shadow copies under disc cleanup it ask twice if I want to delete the files and I choose yes but it does not delete the folder.

I was able to rename the folder but it still is read only and I cannot delete any of it.

In that case, you might see if the free program Unlocker may be able to delete it.

After renaming it oldwin I went back to the command prompt screen and tried this

takeown /F H:\oldwin\* /R /A

This allowed me to take ownership as but still can't delete it.

I finally got rid of the folder. I had to give myself ownership under the security> advanced> ect> tab and also give myself full permissions also under that tab.
