hi all.

i'm having an issue with the wmp.
i just had a fresh install of my win7 copy and after firing up the media player, i instantly deleted those sample files on my hard drive (those 3 songs that come pre-installed).

however, they won't vanish from my media library - which is pretty much disturbing me quite alot.

is there any solution to this?

and my apologies in case this has already been answered in some other thread.

regards

jan.

Try taking ownership of the files first, then delete them... See Brinks tutorial -=> here

thanks rsvr,

however that didn't do it.

furthermore i noticed that the folder which i added recently has for some reason vanished from the library. the cover art, however, is still within the picture tab as is the playlist.

I noticed this too. I deleted the files and they still appeared in the library. Only after refreshing the view of the library or restarting WMP did they disappear as they should have. Have you tried closing WMP and starting it again?

Hi guys :D

You might want to try un-installing WMP, rebooting, re-installing and seeing how that goes???

But when WMP is installed, you have to set up the library and settings on the first run. The sample media files are then copied to Music again.

That is a circle.

It was a suggestion, you don't have to follow it. I thought that maybe reinstalling WMP may iron out some of the problems encountered for pakZ.

I understand that. And perhaps it would. I'm just stating the consequences of it.

The consequences may not be what you're expecting. Did you actually try?

This has been bugging me too, so I went to the organize-manage libraries, and removed all the folders being watched, closed WMP, then opened it and all signs of the sample media that I had already deleted were gone. So I then added the folders to watch backto the media libraries and let it update. No more sample media.

No, I didn't try. Because I'm not having any issues. But as with many of MS's install packages, when you re-install, everything is re-installed (all "dependencies").

Why you are getting so upset with me is beyond me. Chill out.

i'm getting rather upset at the moment.

i did re-install and i did configure the folders to watch.
nothing helped.

and still... even though i told wmp to watch e:\musik - none of the music in there finds its way to my library... this is after refreshing the view and after the re-install, ofc.

halpz meh =(

Good job! Glad you found resolution. I've simply deleted the media from Music without issue every time. Wish I could explain why it doesn't work for you.
