Deleting XP partition after installing windows 7

Ok. Now we have a new problem. Windows 7 is on a logical drive which you cannot make bootable. You can only make primary partitions bootable. So you'll need to convert it using something like Acronis Disk Director.

At this point, you might as well just keep XP on there. It could come in handy. I still use it a lot.

All of my systems still run fastest on XP 32-bit for the most part. Win7 is fun to play with, but I still prefer XP for raw speed, security, and functionality.
Ok cool download free trail right now.

thank you for all the help

If you use the trial you'll need to make the recovery media. And it's probably best to do all that in Windows XP because from what I've heard Windows 7 is not so compatible with Acronis anymore.

hello guys, I´m having a similar problem, although I might sidetrack this a little...

I ran bootbcd attempting to copy the files from the temporary x:/windows directory that the windows recovery environment creates to my e: drive, but was met with this:

BFSVC "failed to open handle to resume object"

does any one know what can be done with this?
Thank you.

The easiest way to delete XP (installed first) is to use EasyBCD beta 2 latest.
Go to Diagnostics Center and click "change my boot drive". Wait for dialog window then choose the letter (C)? for win7.
That's it.

Remember that if it's on a seperate hard drive to change the boot order in the bios.

The XP partition can be deleted.
