HI Guys, I am having an issue with said printer, and would be extremely grateful for any help at all. having just installed Win 7 on my Mum's computer, i am having a problem getting this printer to print. it scans and copies as it should, it just wont print, the printer is in good working order, and was working fine on the previous XP installation.

The PC is a dell dimension 5150, with an Intel pentium 4 CPU @3GHz, 2GB RAM, Dell Photo AIO 924 Printer, and Windows 7 x86 Build 7000.

After the installation i downloaded and installed updates, including the dell drivers which showed in win update. during the updating one the dell drivers (dell inkjet drivers) failed. the imaging driver installed without issue. i have tried the vista drivers, everything appears to have installed, the printer is set as default printer, and scans ok, but when i go to print i receive the error message - could not start printer, please check printer configuration. the printer has been configured though.

I am about to re-install and not choose automatic updates, and install the vista drivers on the fresh install, as i am wondering if the vista drivers would not install because of corrupted files from the failed (windows update) install.

I am only visiting at my Mum's, and actually leave tomorrow morning, and really dont want to leave her with no printer, as it will be some time before I am back here.

Anyone any ideas?

Thanks

Hi Fabio and welcome to the forum!

The issue of the Dell Photo AIO 924 Printer has also been prevalent in Vista :(

I've checked the downloads available for your printer in Dell support and it shows 4 available vista downloads, I'd suggest to give those a spin, the drivers and the patch.

Tip: After trying to install the drivers normally and it still fails, you could try installing them in Vista compatibility mode.

Now if all else fails, you could try this - Windows 7 driver solution

Cheers ;)

Hey,

I have windows seven and have been trying to get my photo 924 to work for weeks. I have successfully installed that latest drivers thanks to all the suggestions but now my printer won't "communicate" with my computer. Is there any way to fix this problem. Thanks for the help!

Hi,
I had difficulty with installing Dell Photo All in One (AIO) 924 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit system (where as it had been working previously with Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit system).

Dell support said there is no driver for 924, the only option is to buy a new printer.

The Dell UK support site has Vista drivers (and the application), none of them worked for Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
I did some more searching / googling, and found the Vista 64 drivers on the US support site here:
Drivers and Downloads

Installing it (in Vista compatibility mode) has resolved the 924 printer recognition problem (the full Scanning/copying/printing application has been installed).

So, I do not have to buy a brand new printer Mr. Dell Support!!!!

Thank you!

Thanks guys. I was trying to install the Dell 924 all-in-one printer on my Windows 7 computer using the manufacturer's CD, and it wouldn't work. Then I tried the drivers from dell's website, and it still didn't work. But then I found this forum, and the Vista drivers from 2007 worked great! Thanks so much for saving me from buying a new printer! I love this printer, and would not want to find a new one.

Hello,

I bought a new laptop (acer) a few days ago, with windows 7 home premium. and my printer does not work with it (lol, otherwise I wouldn't write this post).
I already tried the driver download Mubbasher posted, but it doesn't work (installation of the scanner succeeds but not the installation of the printer). I also tried the installation after cleaning the hard drive with the dellXPcleanUpUtility. But this didn't change anything.

Has anyone any idea that helps me solving the problem or sees things I haven't considered yet?
Thank you for helping!!

Well, it still doesn't work. I tried it in compatibility mode, even in different (vista and xp). and I tried to clean it before installing the "new" version with the dellcleanuputility but this didn't work either. I don't know what else to do oder to think of. Did I still forget something? Or do I just have to accept the the printer wouldn't work with my new laptop!?

Hi there, it's a long time ago that you had this problem, but now I'm having the same problem. Tearing my hair out...not that I've got much! Tried every which way to install the drivers and get my new laptop to talk to my Dell 924 but without success either through USB or through my Dell Printer Adaptor 3300.

Did you find a solution?

Cheers
