Hello All,
My 1st post....computers are not my acumen...
Have the above model 1545. My driver card (???) which inserts on the left side (looking from frt)fell out, the screws evidently backed out.
I reinserted it and now have only a blue W7 screen back round, mouse arrow, but nothing else. I tried using the F-8 key starting the computer in "safe mode command prompt". Computer installed driver info and then went to another prompt screen which had 2 choices, repair computer or start normally. I used repair computer prompt....after which the blue screen returned w/ mouse pad arrow but nothing else.
The driver card was not damaged....
Any ideas...

***Update ran both start ups, repair and normal got a black blank screen, than another W7 blue screen w/ arrow...nothing else
Thank you!
JEFF

That sounds like an "express card", but I can't find out what from the Dell documentation.

Dell has a users forum. Posting on the Laptop hardware forum where those familiar with Dell's may be a better place to start. Laptop - Dell Community

Thank you,

After viewing the Dell 1545 Manual, they call it a "Hard Drive"......ran system pre boot diagnostic and got error code 2000-0146???? again, the "driver" fell onto the floor, carpeted and it didn't fell far...no physical damage.

Ouch! that can be fatal.
If you have it connected properly and it still will not work, try F8 at power on. That will access the Dell PC Restore and possibly the Repair PC options. Try the Repair options first, if that doesn't work, you can try the PC Restore, which will wipe out the "C" drive and restore the PC back to the original factory condition.

The 2000-0146 error, according to the Dell listing I have is DST Log contains previous error(s). Which doesn't really mean much.

Do you get any beeps at power on? However, with the hard drive falling out, it could just be corrupted or it may be defective because of falling out, especially under power. There should be something covering the drive so it can't fall out??
