Dell Inspiron w/win 7 wont power on

Didn't think to check out the Power Supply, is 200 watts going to be an issue?

Don't know if will be an issue. Probably not if you don't add a graphics card.

purchased in 2010!!

Thanks to everyone on this awesome forum for helping it last 11+ years!!

New computer came today.

I've decided to skip the windows 7 part (for now at least) and just transfer my files
and whatever else will transfer to windows 10 (settings, e-mails, etc.)

<<To transfer the files from the old computer SSD to the new one, take the it out from the old and attach power and SATA cable to the new one. Go to \users\Name and copy your files to the new one.>>

I am still confused though (have been using the same computer since 2010).

My win 7 computer is dead so I see I have to take the ssd out and hook it up into the new one... but where?
Do I disconnect the HD in there now (win 10) or do I leave that one there and connect the win 7
ssd somewhere so both are connected?

I'm assuming I'll need to start it with both HD's in there? Then once it's started where do I go from there?

I know some of this may be basic so if there is a tutorial you can point me to that would be great!

I've been looking for information on how to do it but the more I read the more confused I get (-:

Thanks.

As you bought a desktop, there must be at least one more SATA port to connect the SSD from the old computer.
You're going to need a SATA cable that you can take from the old computer along with the SSD.
You should find a power cable near the slot of the CD/DVD drive (yours doesn't have a ODD)
Boot from the Win 10 and open explorer.
On the SSD of the old computer there is a \Users"Your name" and under that are all your documents, images etc

I have both HD's hooked up. There was a power cable and a hd cable in there already so I used them, they fit fine.

I started the computer and am not seeing the samsung evo in there anywhere.

I looked in Explorer, then did a search for "samsung" and a lot of files came up in the "real player" location, many of them from 2010 - 2015. The HD must be in there because of the date of the files... so I think?? Is there a way to tell if I have the 2nd HD hooked up correctly?

Anyway... where to go from here?

Thanks again for your help!!!

Open Disk Manager (C:\Windows\System32\diskmgmt.msc). Is the Samsung drive there? Does it has a drive letter assigned to the big partition?

Here is a screenshot of the Disk Manager.

It looks like it is recognizing the HD.

So, I'd like to transfer everything I can including settings,
e-mails from Windows Live Mail (on the PC), Chrome and Brave
bookmarks, programs, etc.?

What is the next step?

Thanks again!!

Now you have Win 10 and you have a computer that has a hardware that isn't compatible with Win 7.
You can't transfer settings, programs etc that were set on the old computer. You will need to set win 10 to your needs and reinstall programs.

Windows Live mail isn't supported any more by M$. You can probably find the program to install (I once did) but I don't know if it's win 10 compatible. If you install and it runs, you can import the emails data from the old computer, although not a simple task .
Chrome and Brave bookmarks, is also possible to transfer, although not a simple task
You can easily transfer your data (documents, images, videos etc)

Install brave. start it up, then close it.

copy from the old installation Users\Your_user_name\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware folder .

firefox users would copy from the old installation the Users\Your_user_name\Appdata\Roaming\mozilla folder

Also, I think you can import .eml into Thunderbird

Just a quick update... new computer is great!

Got most of my files moved over (Thanks Megahertz07) and still
working on the setup. My passwords are hidden somewhere in chrome.
It says 83 passwords but wont show them to me. Does anyone know
where I might find them?

Thanks again to all that has helped me!! I really appreciate it!!
