I have the Windows firewall setup, UAC turned up and MSE installed. I like the idea of DEP, but is it a good idea to turn it on for all installed programs?

Yep unless it causes trouble (like cirtical event ID 1000 source 100 (app crashes)) otherwise it is preferred (and I believe the default)

Nope, I haven't tweaked it and it's set for Windows system files. I'll turn it on for all programs and see if any of my games crash. If not, I don't have much else I'm planning to install, so I should be good.

Thanks.

Hi, mooreted.

As I wrote in the post about http://www.sevenforums.com/news/122390-microsoft-security-advisory-2458511-released.html#post1054673, released yesterday, it is important to note that all attacks Microsoft has seen are all blocked by DEP which is enabled by default on IE8 and can also be enabled for earlier versions of IE. So, yes, it is good to have DEP.

That is great to hear. I now have DEP turned on for all applications. I think I have my system pretty well secured now. Everything is running well, no issues.
