Ok here's the case:

My older brother brought this laptop and lend it to his friend, then they set an ugly wallpaper. After that when I received my laptop, I saw the ugly wallpaper. I tried to change the wallpaper but there's an error "This image can't be set as a wallpaper. An internal error occured." I tried to scan using sfc /scannow but it failed. There was an error msg in the CBS.LOG and this is it.

For more info, I'll attach the whole CBS.LOG (The date was 06-22-11)

Any ideas on how to fix this error so that I can change my wallpaper again to remove this ugliness?
My computer is still working the way it should, just can't change my wallpaper.

Hi,

Do you have an anti-virus product installed? Has it flagged any suspicious activity since this wallpaper was installed?

Please download the portable version of SAS to a USB drive. Scan your PC with this tool and post back here what it finds.

It depends on what sort of Adware....did you note the names?

Download, install, update and run a FULL scan with the free version of Malwarebytes. Post the log file so we can see what it finds.

Golden

The name of the virus was "Adware.Tracking Cookie"

I'll report again after I'm done scanning using the malwarebytes.

Hi,

The tracking cookies aren't neccessarily a cause for concern, in fact they are very probably innocuous. Complete the Malwarebytes scan and lets see what that finds.
