Desktop backgrounds showing up black

Hi All,

I downloaded 4 high resolution desktop backgrounds. Two of them show up just fine, but the other two just show up black when I choose "set as desktop background". Any idea what might be causing this or how to fix it? Thank you for taking the time to read this!

What is the image format of the images that show up black?

All the images are in .png format and this particular image is 4800 x 2700

If the formats are the same, you most likely have corrupt images.

Not sure if this will work for your DOWNLOADED images.

You might want to try and convert them to jpg instead and see if that works. Can you view the images?

Hi! Yes, I changed it to JPG format and that made it work, but now the image is a bit fuzzier and the file size is much smaller (1mb instead of the 21mb in png format). But yes, it does show up now.

Yeah, if I'm not mistaken jpg is a compressed image format that is lossy while png or gif are lossless uncompressed. There are whole web pages on all this. If you have the original png try gif and see if that works for you while retaining the image quality.
