Hello, I don't know the proper name for the menu, I think it may be called the rocketdock. It's the one that you can hide to the side or the top of the screen and only appears when you move the mouse to the side or top.

Anyway, I've been using that menu since I installed windows 7, and today I must have hit a key or clicked something that I didn't realise and it completely dissapeared. I have spent at least an hour googling and going through the comps settings to try and restore it. But I can't find any answers in any search I do. How do I get the menu back? It's such a handy feature.

No he is referring to rocket dockm it is a third party taskbar. if worse comes to worse, you could probably do system restore to as close as possible to your current time, but far back enough that you could get your dock back.
