Desktop Icon Display

I have seen a number of screen shots on the forum where the desktop icons seem to be grouped at the top. Having looked around both in my Se7en options on the computer and also on the forum don't seem to be able to find any mention of how this is done.

How do they do it?

Hi Bellerophon

Are you talking about the actual Taskbar, (superbar) ?

If so this can be moved to any of the four screen edges by dragging once uou right click on the taskbar and deselect "lock the taskbar"

There is also an option in the properties to allow you to select which edge it attaches to

These are dock programs that allow you to put desktop icons on and customize the dock any way you want pretty much. Both work good, you can try both to see what you like.

Looks like these are the one's Barman. Shame they aren't compatible with x64 systems. Anyone know of a similar program that is?

Hi Bellerophon,

As far as I know although Objectdock is a 32 bit application, it is usable on vista x64, you may find though that some more specialised modules will not work.

I have not tried this myself but the Objectdock forums do suggest this

Rocketdock is as you say x86 only AFAIK

Not really according to the above but will give it a go. I suppose it does say 'not supported' and will not work with.

this is often the case with x64 programs that the designers haven't actually used on x64 and as you say it may well work.

@ Airbot,

If Shawn says it works then I would say it works
and the cat has a habit of jumping on the keyboard and pressing various keys including the power off key (have it set to "sleep" so it's not a total loss

It just gets installed into your (x86) folder.

I am now using ObjectDock Plus on my Vista Ultimate x64 and it seems OK. Will install it to Win 7000 Beta tomorrow.

Yeah I see no reason why either would not function just like any other x86 program on x64.
