Just looking to see if anyone knows a quick fix for my problem of clicking on an icon on the desktop and the shadow around the icon sometimes staying and sometimes not staying. It's quite odd and if nothing else I'll just either try repairing the OS or reinstall sometime. Just wondering if anyone has had this oddity.

Thanks!

didn't come back with anything, still restarted and still isn't fixed. good call though, I always forget about that built in tool.

Hi sltyler1, as well as following the advice Arc gave you ,try this http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/49819-icon-cache-rebuild.html :)

tried this and no luck.

it seems to occur mostly when i click on a program or window, then try and click on an icon on the desktop and while i have my cursor over the icon it shows as selected in the full whiter background. but as soon as i remove my cursor then highlight disappears. is an odd bug.

Hi sltyler1, I understand what you are saying now , that is a common occurrence not a bug , If I click on an icon it will be highlighted and stay that way until I open the program or just click anywhere on the desktop :) some one will come along shortly and explain it better than I can :D

sorry I sort of explained that wrong again haha.

Here's an example.

So I'm on firefox, then I'll minimize firefox and hover over an icon on the desktop I want to select (it's a totally different program I don't have open) and it'll have the slight white select box around the icon, then I click on the icon and it flashes the more solid white selection highlight background and then return to the hover lighter selection color that just appears when you hover over an icon on the desktop. so i'll move my cursor away to see if the icon i just clicked on is selected and it will then not be selected, even though I clicked on it.

However sometimes it won't play this 'fun game' and just select the icon i click on on the desktop. Hope that isn't overly confusing because this is a real oddity. haha

thanks!
