Guys theres something wrong. I reinstalled windows xp on my harddrive and theres only 1 partition on it which is the current one. I had been getting boot disk failure etc but now that has gone and basically, it loads up the windows logo, and logs in to the desktop, but it takes ages for the taskbar and icons to display. I had it on for 1 hour loading it and nothing. I restart now and it takes 20 seconds to load which is strange. The explorer process is running at all times at 7000kb. What could be the problem?

I fixed it. I disabled all non microsoft related services and unticked the load startup items, and it displays immediately. One of my startup items was stalling it.

Thanks

Just make sure you have your security programs checked to start a boot.
