Desktop icons disappear if i leave my pc on while away

hi guys,

i am using windows 7 64bit.
some of my desktop icons disappear when i leave my pc on and i have to go a do something else. my monitor gos into sleep mode after 10 mins but i do not have sleep or hibernate on at all.
this is strange because not all of the icons disappear, the main ones stay but my some of my games shortcuts go?

any help please

Hi Mark,

When you say the "shortcuts go", do you mean temporarily until your monitor awakens, and then they appear again?

Can you try this:

1. Click the Start Orb, type power into the box.
2. Find and select the option called Change power-saving settings
3. Refer to the attached image - this is what you should see.

Play around with some of the options (see the ones I annotated) to prevent your monitor turning off.
