Desktop Icons Missing

When I save a file to the desktop it doesn't show up. I open windows explorer and it is indeed there, but the icon does not show when I go to the desktop. Only after I re-boot will it show. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Hi Victord! Have you tried Refreshing your Desktop (Right-Click>Refresh)

Right-Click on the desktop, click "View", then click "Show Desktop Icons" if it is not checked. That should restore your icons to the desktop.

I'm not sure of the exact working of the commands given above, as I am not at home and am unfortunately working on an XP machine right now...
